How to Quickly Improve Your English
How
to Improve Your English
Hello! My name is Salsabila
Setya and I would like to explain to you how to improve your english skills. Learning
English is important and people all over the world decide to study it as a
second language. Many countries include English as a second language in their
school syllabus and children start learning English at a young age. English is
the most commonly spoken language in the world. One out of five people can
speak or at least understand English. English is the language of the media
industry. If you speak English, you won’t need to rely on translations and
subtitles anymore to enjoy your favorite books, songs, films and TV
shows. English is also the language of
the Internet. Many websites are written in English, you will be able to
understand them and to take part in forums and discussions.
- · Writing
I think to improve your writing you really need
to write something in English more or less every day. In my experience, it's
best not to be too hard on yourself, but just write a few lines about what you
did or about your opinion of something. If you're studying for an exam, you
probably need to do more writing, perhaps writing the answer to an exam
question at least twice a week. You also can improve your writing from reading.
People often say that we learn to write best by reading. Reading in English is
useful in many ways. It is a great way to get an idea of the different styles
of writing and see how to use words appropriately. You can Choose books or
articles with topics that interest you. Learning shouldn’t be boring. Read each
text several times to make sure you understand how to use new words and
expressions in the text.
- Listening
The best way to improve
is to listen to English. A lot. There's no way around
it; you have to spend hours and hours listening to people speaking English.
Listen to things that interest you. If you don't enjoy something, it's going to
be hard for you to continue. You'll get bored and stop. You also improve your
listening skills from watching movie. Watching movies is a great way to improve
English listening skills. Once you have developed your listening skills to a
certain extent, turn off subtitles and try to understand just by following the
story. Pay close attention to how the characters enunciate certain words.
Listen closely to how they stress and de-stress certain sounds. All these
little cues will not only allow you to developed advanced listening skills in
English but will also help improve your pronunciation and accent. Interactive
listening is best. In other words, it's better to talk with someone than just
to listen to a recorded TV show, radio program, or podcast. When you talk to
people live, you listen more carefully, and you also think about how you're
going to respond. Don't just listen to the same kind of
English all the time. Don't just listen to the news, or only watch TV comedies.
Expose yourself to a variety of different kinds of situations and topics.
- · Speaking
First
of all, it’s important to find native speakers to practice with. Students who
are living around many English speakers may be able to find informal
opportunities to chat with neighbors. Joining a club or a volunteer
organization can be a great way to get to know people informally. If that isn’t
an option, consider hiring a private tutor. A lot of students find and meet
with tutors online. When practicing with a native speaker, try to balance your
listening and speaking. It’s a good idea to prepare questions in advance so
that the conversation will flow back and forth. Another way to improve your
English speaking skills is to immerse yourself in English as much as possible.
Watch movies or TV in English, with subtitles if you need them, and watch the
same programs over and over. Most people find that they understand more each
time. Listening helps you become familiar with the rhythms and intonations of
English. Once the sounds are familiar, try imitating them. Listen to music in
English and sing along. Music is one of the best tools for learning intonation
pronunciation. Listening to and singing songs might also help you remember
vocabulary and phrases, and it will help you learn to pronounce English rhythm
in a more natural way.
