An Easy Way to Improve Your English Skill

English is one of the United Nation official language which makes it an important language in our society. If you're going to apply for a job nowadays, they will ask for your TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS score along with your CV. Learning a new language of course not an easy thing to do. Lots of formula of grammar you have to learn, new vocabularies, pronunciation, etc. Luckily, I have some tips for you guys who wants to learn English simply and easily. 

These are the tips :

1. Watch a Hollywood movie

     A lot of Indonesian people loves Hollywood movie, I bet you do too. You watch action, horror, thriller, romance, or even drama. But until now, your English skill haven't be as good as you want it to be? Don't worry, maybe you just doing it all wrong!! Humans was designed to receive messages through their visual and audio. Therefore, to reach our maximum capacity of owning a package of information we should see and hear it. In conclusion, you have to start to not only watch Hollywood movie in the theater which only provides Indonesia subtitle, but watch it a home. Maybe laying in your bed, eating some snacks, watch an America situation comedy serial using English subtitle. Don't be afraid of not knowing the story line. Since you're watching it at your own room, you can pause and play it as much as you want. And if one day you only want to watch a movie in peace, just want to watch it without pause-play-pause-playing the movie, don't worry, you can! Your brain is smart, it can capture the words as long as you still using English subtitle. Watching a movie while learning English is not going to be a pain in your ass right? It's fun, you can laugh or get scared but also you can improve your English skills!



2. Read a Novel

    What a nerd?! Well, there are a lot of information you can get from reading a book. In this case, if you love reading rather than watching a movie you can learn English from reading your favorite novel. I know a lot of people read Harry Potter right? or Twilight? or the Fault in Our Stars? And I also know you guys read it with Indonesia language. Maybe from now you can change that behavior by buying or borrowing novel from its original language, English. It might be hard at first, but I believe you will learn a bunch of new vocabularies.



3. Listening to Music
    This is the easiest thing to do. Everyone listens to music, because music touch people the way movie or book couldn't. Some people even say "I couldn't live a day without music". My advice is simple, try to sing you favorite songs by looking at the lyrics. "Well, I've done that. Still my English is not as good as I want to" wait, I haven't finished. you also have to understand the lyrics. Each word always have its own meaning. How that stanza feel, how the writer should feel when it comes to that verse, sad? happy? excited? You never know unless you understand the lyrics. Listening and memorizing is indeed easy. But when it comes to comprehend the meaning each word, that's the real challenge. So, from now on, read the lyrics, listen to the song, be comprehensive about the song.



I think that's all from me. Good luck and always learn everything in a fun way! If you just keep on reading your English subject book, well you will get bored easily. Make it exciting, fun, and relaxing. Therefore, you will be able to understand English in a snap of a finger.
